On Saturday I had my first outdoor competition in 6 years, competing for Marshall Milton Keynes in the Southern Athletics League. On this occasion I took part in the Shot Putt, Javelin and Discus. I can always tell if something just isn’t right and that day my discus was way off and I ended up throwing three no throws, but this is something I haven’t really worked on so clearly this needs addressing. I threw another PB in shot of 11.58M which is great but way off where I should be. Javelin was a good start too as I threw 50.18M which is a seasons best so I can’t complain. Overall there is lots to work on, so I’m back to training for the next 10 days before I rest up ready for my first decathlon of the season.
Since finding out about the issues with my shins/calves training hasn’t been great and neither has my diet. But this is something that all athletes go through and it’s a tough dealing with certain little injuries. I suppose when you starve yourself of certain foods when there comes a point of being able to have them you just go all in, well I do anyway.
I am normally very good at keeping my cravings for chocolate down but with Easter and not being able to train fully I have let that slide which isn’t great, but its out my system and now I can kick on again.
